I am pleased to announce that registration for the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Network Annual Assembly is now open. The assembly will take place in the John McIntyre Conference Centre, Edinburgh on Thursday 28th May 2015.
We have planned the Assembly to coincide with the IWRA World Water Congress, which is also being hosted in Edinburgh in May. Our Assembly will take place after the IWRA Special Session on Flood Risk Management on Wednesday 27th May.
The assembly is free to attend, but registration is essential.
We are in the final stages of confirming the Assembly Programme. Like our 2014 event, the assembly aims to bring together a diverse range of professionals from across the Flood Risk Management sector, as well as those working in related disciplines. This year the focus of the Assembly is on translation and dissemination of research outcomes. The Annual Assembly’s objectives are as follows:
- Share information about on-going research in FCERM and identify knowledge gaps
- Develop a dialogue between research and research-users, with a focus on practical dissemination
- Create opportunities for networking and encourage development of research students and early career researchers in FCERM
- To promote the dissemination of research outcomes into information of that is of practical value to the the user-community, generating real, measurable impact
We have organised a conference dinner on the evening of Wednesday 27th May. The dinner is free to attend, but registration is essential. Please indicate on your registration form if you intend to join us for dinner, and if you have any special dietary requirements.
Our Assembly dinner will take place in the Hub, a historic venue at the heart of the Royal Mile, close to Edinburgh Castle. Our pre-dinner drinks reception will take place in The Hub, Castlehill Edinburgh, EH1 2NE, from 7pm. For information on how to get to the hub, please use this link.
We have reserved a limited number of rooms close to the John McIntyre Conference Centre. Availability is limited, and priority will be given to those travelling long distances to attend the event. If you would like to apply for accommodation, please indicate this on the registration form.
We will cover the costs of accommodation for staff and students at UK research institutions. Regrettably those from private sector companies will have to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
Poster Session & Competition
Posters will be displayed in the main concourse at the event all day but the main poster session will take place during the first coffee break and during the second half of lunch, when our judges will be circulating. Prizes will be awarded to those who fulfil some (or all) of the following criteria:
- Innovation in Research
- Thoughtful presentation/visual communication
- Excellent engagement with delegates/considered responses to questions
- Interdisciplinary collaboration/ stakeholder engagement

If accepted, you will receive a poster board number and a reminder of the guidelines for the session. Please note: Posters should be printed A0 Size, portrait orientation. Velcro patches will be provided for attachment to boards.
