On the 18th November Professor Garry Pender will take the Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers Scottish Region. The role of the Region is to support the Institution's branches in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Dundee, Glasgow and Highlands and Islands in delivering knowledge, inspiration and education programmes and leading on the Institution’s Public Voice activities.
Professor Pender's term will begin with an open meeting on “Flood Risk Management: from defence to social impact” at 6pm on November 18th at the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation. Speakers include

- Professor Sue Tapsall, Flood Hazard Research Centre, Middlesex University
